Ticket #10377 - Translation

Hi Marek,

Not sure you remember but a while ago you suggested I translated the template with poedit due to the error in accent marks that were showing up with error on my checkout page.

Ive already tryed that, I did the translation with poedit and besides that I changed everything to uft-8 and the problem is still showing up, again, only on my checkout page.

heres the route: public_html/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/i18n/languages and public_html/en/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/i18n/languages

Can you help me out?

This ticket does not depend on any other tickets.

Marek (marek) 21 Apr 2017, 22:12

Yes, I remember. I’ll try to figure out what’s wrong with that page

Juan (j.s.rivera) 21 Apr 2017, 22:17

Thank you so much.

Juan (j.s.rivera) 24 Apr 2017, 18:01

Hi Marek,

Did you get the chance to check out the “check out” page and the issue with the translation?

Marek (marek) 25 Apr 2017, 12:33

Juan (j.s.rivera) 27 Apr 2017, 18:10

Hi Marek,

I translated the file and wasn’t successful.

Marek (marek) 27 Apr 2017, 19:59

Hi Juan.
But there should be translated file “es_ES.po” and I don’t see it

Juan (j.s.rivera) 02 May 2017, 18:42

Sorry, didnt see this message.

It is in the file the “es_ES.po”... you mean the .mo file?

Marek (marek) 03 May 2017, 10:46

I mean you need to open en_EN.po file with your Poedit. Translate it and save as es_ES.po

Juan (j.s.rivera) 03 May 2017, 20:32

Its now on the folder.

Marek (marek) 03 May 2017, 22:12

What do you mean?

Juan (j.s.rivera) 03 May 2017, 22:38

The file is translated and saved as es_Es.po like you said.

Marek (marek) 03 May 2017, 22:45

Sorry, I misread your previous message
I’ll check it right now

Marek (marek) 03 May 2017, 23:01

I’m not sure about your folders structure.
As I can see there are two websites in different folders, right?

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 00:18

There is.. spanish and english

Marek (marek) 04 May 2017, 12:55

I just need to understand what is the path to your spanish version to put files there

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 15:37

Its in public_html folder... the english version is in public_html/en

Marek (marek) 04 May 2017, 15:38

So the issue with translation is in “/public_html/wp-content/...”, right?

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 15:42

Yes.. You may recall that the issue only appears on a couple of pages. On others the accent mark is working just fine. The pages that show the error are checkout and cart.

Marek (marek) 04 May 2017, 17:22

I just found a reason of all this issues with encoding.
Some files for some reason has wrong encoding, I just resaved necessary files in utf8 encoding, and that’s fixed the issue on checkout page.

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 18:00

You are so awesome.. Thank you.

I still have the same issue with the cart page: when you click on the calculate the delivery button “calcula costo de envio” it shows the error.

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 18:12

also, could that change affect the “woocommerce giftwrapper” plugin i have? the space on the checkout page where the option went doesnt work anymore.

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 18:20

One other thing... sorry!

I was changing the titles of my checkout page correcting the accent marks but it worked on some files and others it didnt.

As you can see the file on the: /public_html/wp-content/themes/hoki/woocommerce/checkout/form-checkout.php still shows up the error.. Maybe the encoding like you said.

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 18:32

Sorry for writing so many comments instead of just one but while i was checking out the page i realized that the accent mark error is now on all my web page while before it only showed on the cart and checkout page.. what im guessing is that the wrong encoding is basically in all the template?

Marek (marek) 04 May 2017, 19:29

I can show you the trick how to fix the issue.
I suppose you already have installed Sublime Text, as I advice you before.
So open necessary file and click “Reopen with encoding UTF8” media.promokit.euscreenshotsscreencloudscreenshot20170504_192734.jpg

Then just save the file and update it on your server.

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 19:43

So i find the file and in my filezilla i open it or on sublime? after opening it with UTF8 what should i do?

Marek (marek) 04 May 2017, 19:44

Just save and upload back to the server

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 19:53

But should i download the php file to edit it in sublime? or can i do it directly on the FTP folder?

Marek (marek) 04 May 2017, 19:54

You can do it directly on the FTP folder. Filezilla ask you to update file once you will save it

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 19:56

Im sorry is not 100% clear... so the files i have on my FTP that i can see through filezilla, how do I search them with the sublime software?

Marek (marek) 04 May 2017, 19:58

Ok, just download files and edit them on your computer. Then upload to your server

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 20:15

Im really not getting it.. i tried it but wasn't able to do it.. Is it possible for you to undo whatever you did before. I prefer to have the error only show up on my checkout page then my entire store. Also wanted to ask you if we talk about customization and change the code for the whole template how much are we talking about?

Marek (marek) 04 May 2017, 20:22

Ok, I just undo changes in the wp-config.php what I did before. that's all

Juan (j.s.rivera) 04 May 2017, 20:27

Ok.. thank you sorry for freaking out. I just tried it again and it worked on the checkout page title that was showing error.
