Ticket #10648 - E-mail templates issue since upgrading to PS 1.6.1.16 - broken links

Hi Marek,

As talked, we have an issue with e-mail templates since upgrading to PS 1.6.1.16 (the only other modification made was updating flexmenu and vertflexmenu modules as per your e-mail).
E-mail footer is no longer linking to anything, just shows {email_addr}, {social_networks}, {adv_img} and no newsletter registration emails are being sent anymore.

When we click “Fix it” under These settings/E-mails we get an error at the top of the page saying “Can’t download the file” and when we try to update the theme error is “There is no file to update” although we’re running on v 4.4.

My guess is Mail.php needs to be updated, can you please check and advise? Many thanks!

E-mail templates work fine, many thanks for this!

Newsletter e-mails are still not being sent, actually the newsletter inside the module module pk_newsletter doesn’t seem to work at all (no confirmation, no error message, no e-mail). Could you please take a look at this? This seems to be separate from the e-mail templates issue and more related to the module itself, if you prefer me to open a separate ticket, just let me know. Thanks!

Hello Marek, sorry for the late reply, I am just back from holidays. Unfortunately, the newsletter subscription still doesn’t work for me. I tested both languages, both on mobile and desktop. If I add my e-mail address, then hit ‘Subscribe’, nothing happens. Before, I used to receive an on-screen confirmation saying: Subscription successful and the related e-mail in my inbox. If already subscribed, it would have shown a message on screen saying: Already subscribed. Can you please check once again? Many thanks!

I am wondering if this is because we updated the PS version to 1.6.17. Will this occur every time we update the PS version? Is there a way to avoid it?

Thanks, Marek! E-mail templates work, the extended newsletter module still doesn’t seem to work - no e-mails are being sent with the voucher code and the user registration is not recorded. Is there something else you can do for this? Can you send me the original pk_newsletter.tpl file to check out if we are missing something? Otherwise we’ll just disable it and figure out something else.

Re e-mail footer, we would like to disable the blue color for the e-mail address and phone numbers, but keep them as links - see attached screen shot. Can you please advise how to do this?

Hi Marek,

After clearing cache, the links in the e-mail templates footer are broken again, why is this happening? I even tried to resubmit the same Mail.php file that you uploaded this morning, but it still doesn’t work. This is giving us a lot of headaches…. Appreciate if you could look into it.

That is prestashop issue, because it’s always reset cache file.
Try to remove that cache file, it will be regenerated automatically.

/public_html/moodame.com/cache/class_index.php

Thanks Marek, if I delete that file and re-upload Mail.php, the e-mails works, except for the newsletter related one. So let me get this straight: every time we delete cache we have to re-upload Mail.php? Is there another way? Then, is there a way to fix the newsletter e-mails or should we deactivate it?

You don’t need touch Mail.php file.

Hi Marek,

Just to clarify, sometimes we need to clear cache to have changes on the BO reflected in the FO. For example, changing category images. Every time we do this, e-mails stop working, regardless of whether we delete /public_html/moodame.com/cache/class_index.php before clearing cache or after. So then we have to upload Mail.php again.
It did’t use to be like that in previous PS 1.6. version. This seems to have appeared with 1.6.1.17. Is there a way to fix this?

Newsletter e-mails/notification still don’t work, can you please send the original pk_newsletter.tpl file to check out if we missed something in the code when we changed the order of Social Networks/Advertising/Newsletter?

I didn’t see any issues with cleaning cache and emails before. It seems something was changed in the prestashop code.
You can download original newsletter file from themeforest
