Ticket #12930 - Problem Blog widget with cache

Hi Marek,
I have a huge problem with blog post widget in home page.
If I change something in a post like description or cover image in a post that I have already published it doesn’t appeare in homepage where i have hooked “blog widget”.
I find the cause of issue and is cache enable setting. If I switch on cache (like you made for me to increase performance) blog widget doesn’t reload changes and if you click on post that for example you have now hide you have an error 404.
So the fix is switch off cache in BO like you can see in attached file.

I hope to understand what I mean but in few words with cache “blog widget” doesn’t reload changes that you make in your posts section.

Please let me know if I have to switch off “cache” like this but I think that widget would be work properly also with cache enable.

please tell me also if I have to switch of all CCC settings in performance.

Thank you

Another issue that you find with "cache on" is that if you compile some posts and you put future "publication date" (for example post that has 18 october 2018 like publication date) when you save and clean cache you will find post displayed. But Post would be diplayed only at publication date not now.

I want to give you all issues that I find with cache enable. If you switch off "cache" all blog module works good and post will appeare at publication date.

Hi Marek,
I don't understand. What do you mean? I have to switch on cache option and after what settings I have to modify in widget blog?

thank You

Marek (marek) 20 Sep 2018, 11:21

I mean I disabled cache for blog module and now all should work fine

Alessandro Borsani (AleBTstudio) 20 Sep 2018, 11:26

Ok, thank you, so now I go to enable cache in BO and test.

Thank you

Marek (marek) 20 Sep 2018, 11:26

Yes, right

Alessandro Borsani (AleBTstudio) 20 Sep 2018, 12:43

Hi Marek, I have made some test and there is issue yet.
Now I have disable cache from performance setting. If Cache is on widget doesn't reload event correctly. In blog section (news or other categories) all works good but widget blog doesn't refresh if cach is on.
I try to change some settings like (never compile.....) but nothing changes if cache is on.

Now to fix at this moment I have switch off cache...
If you have a solution please let me know

Thank you

Ok, I need a time to figure out what's wrong

Alessandro Borsani (AleBTstudio) 20 Sep 2018, 15:50

Ok, Marek, no problem now I'm working without cache. When you'll do the fix you'll know me

thank you

Marek (marek) 21 Sep 2018, 13:18

I found a solution for you. Here is it http://take.ms/BLTVP

Alessandro Borsani (AleBTstudio) 21 Sep 2018, 16:52

Ciao Marek,
I tried with solution you advised me in screenshot but it doesn't fix the issue. If I try to set "off" on dysplayed post it appeare in homepage yet and if you click on preview you have a 404 error page.
Now I set off cache yet but I want tell you that solution doesn't work.

Please let me know when you will find another fix.

Thank you

Marek (marek) 21 Sep 2018, 18:40

I don't see the issue. All links works fine for me. Changing blog widget settings also works fine. All is ok with this option selected http://take.ms/BLTVP

Alessandro Borsani (AleBTstudio) 21 Sep 2018, 19:09

Ciao Marek, I have a issue yet.
If I change a image cover or switch of a post for example. If I switch on cache like you advise me I don't see changes in home page and I see last image preview since I clear cache. But the critical issue is that if you click on preview and post is switch we have a 404 error.
Now I have to switch off cache in performance

Marek (marek) 23 Sep 2018, 12:09

So, I have enabled back your cache. Then disable one post and it disappeared from front page, Please check it once again

Alessandro Borsani (AleBTstudio) 23 Sep 2018, 15:30

Thank you Marek, I try now it and now it works but I don't know because sometime I have to clear chache.
I will make other test and if I see issue I will inform you.
For the moment thank you for your great work

Grazie!
