Ticket #15426 - Website traffic on mobile

Hi Marek,

not sure if that’s your area, but we’ve noticed that there’s no mobile traffic from social media platforms (ad campaigns) after installing AMP.
I remember your instruction that we need to place pixel codes both in AMP and regular template which we’ve done but still don’t see any activity from snapchat / pinterest.

Do you have any idea what may be the reason?

Hi, Lisa.
Please check out AMP configuration where you must have Google Analytics ID

Lisa Keeling 28 Aug 2019, 18:33

Hi Marek, We have added the tracking code for Google Analytics (see image). We have all social tracking codes in the code as before and this worked fine. There is an issue with tracking mobile traffic and we have checked with both Snapchat and Pinterest and they tell us the pixel is set up fine from their side. How else can we check this? The tracking codes work fine for desktop and worked fine before AMP development so something is not connecting?
We are seeing Facebook mobile traffic.. Lisa

Marek 29 Aug 2019, 11:52

I need to clarify.
What analytics doesn’t work? only google?

Lisa Keeling 29 Aug 2019, 12:03

Hi Marek. Google analytics is picking up traffic for other social platforms: Facebook (desktop + mobile), Instagram (desktop + mobile), Pinterest (desktop ), Snapchat (none but this is 100% mobile traffic). Snapchat worked 100% before we developed the AMP module so there is an issue with Google Analytics picking up mobile traffic for both of these platforms. We have tested and contacted both Pin/ Snap and they have confirmed the pixel codes are set up correctly. So it seems something is not connecting from the mobile / AMP set up. Does this make sense? Lisa

Marek 29 Aug 2019, 13:04

Do you use some specific module for analytics?
AMP does’t load desktop modules

Lisa Keeling 29 Aug 2019, 13:16

No - we add the pixel code into head tpl and google reads connectivity from there. We also use a tracking url code when setting up ads so that we can track specific ads (daily/weekly etc). I don know what you mean by “AMP does’t load desktop modules” as other mobile. traffic is being picked up by the pixel codes. If someone browses from Facebook to our website on a mobile - AMP is forced so the tracking from mobile is picked up. If someone browses Facebook from a desktop - this is picked up as normal. It got to do with the mobile set up as we have snapchat and Pinterest traffic from before this. Do you have any help?

Marek 29 Aug 2019, 14:02

You can find Facebook Pixel config for AMP in the file /themes/alysum/templates/mobile/_partials/footer-bottom.tpl I have no idea how to help you, because Facebook Pixel works fine for other customers

Lisa Keeling 29 Aug 2019, 14:06

Hi Marek - as I said Facebook Pixel is working fine - its Pinterest and Snapchat are not.
Google analytics is picking up traffic for other social platforms: Facebook (desktop + mobile), Instagram (desktop + mobile), Pinterest (desktop ), Snapchat (none but this is 100% mobile traffic).

Marek 29 Aug 2019, 14:07

There is no support for Pinterest or snapchat in AMP

Lisa Keeling 29 Aug 2019, 14:09

Are you saying ‘you cannot support us with help as its not included in our support package?’ Or Pinterest and Snapchat will not work / not supported with your AMP module? If no.2 will this be added as it is a problem for us as we need to record all website traffic from all sources.

Marek 29 Aug 2019, 14:11

Pinterest and Snapchat analytics doesn’t work in AMP. That require some time. Where I can see an example of Pinterest and Snapchat configs?

Lisa Keeling 29 Aug 2019, 14:56

We have added the pixel codes for all social profiles in our head tpl - you can see them in the dev site you have access to. When will this be available?
alysum/templates/mobile/_partials/head.tpl

Marek 30 Aug 2019, 11:25

You can’t use JS code in AMP.
Please take a look https://amp.dev/about/how-amp-works/ you have to find another way to make your analytics work what would be compatible with AMP

Lisa Keeling 05 Sep 2019, 12:22

Hi Marek,

sorry again for bothering you about this. We have checked the amp documentation, contacted snapchat support - they actually haven’t come across the issue with their script before but they suggested a solution that we have tested out and it doesn’t work… Here is their message below.

“So far, the best option I’ve been able to find is to place the Snap Pixel script inside of <amp-script> tags or possibly adding the custom-element=”amp-script” attribute to the <script> tag, (i.e., <script async custom-element=”amp-script” >)however it seems that is still experimental and may break in unpredictable ways. I would certainly recommend testing in a development site before deploying to a live production site. "

We are actually stuck and don’t really know what to do with this. Is there anything you could help us with?

Marek 06 Sep 2019, 21:15

Hi, Lisa.
First of all, I want to say I really want to help you, but don’t have free time for that.
I have researched snapchat analytics code (https://businesshelp.snapchat.com/en-US/a/pixel-website-install#GeneratePixelCode) and I suppose it’s possible to integrate it with AMP. Here is an example of variables and parameters what are available in snapchat and similar with AMP facebook analytics config https://take.ms/5h3wc

Try to take AMP facebook analytics as a basis and rewrite it with snapchat parameters.

Lisa Keeling 08 Sep 2019, 09:09

Hi Marek, Thanks so much for your response, I really appreciate your help. We have tried to implement manual code recommended from Snapchat as we ahem stated above but the code does not work.
We have the same issue with the pixel code for Pinterest so anything that is possible would need to be copied also for Pinterest.
Are you saying you can integrate it into AMP for us but you are short on time? Or are you suggesting that we do something with your screenshot? Sorry I am a little confused. Either way we would appreciate your help on this, even if it takes a little longer or we could pay you something for your additional time spent? TY, Lisa

Marek 09 Sep 2019, 11:44

My English is not good, and sometimes I’m confusing customers, sorry.
I don’t have time for custom works now. I suppose would be faster for you to find a developer who can help you with that.

Lisa Keeling 18 Sep 2019, 15:25

Hi Marek, just wondered if you know anyone who is familiar with AMP and you could recommend for contacting to get a support. I guess you didn’t come up with anything re issues we reported.

Marek 18 Sep 2019, 20:01

Unfortunately no, I don’t know anyone.
What issues do you mean? If there is a bug in our theme, of course we will fix it

Lisa Keeling 19 Sep 2019, 12:32

Oh, sorry for not being clear, I obviously meant the pinterest and snapchat configuration. We don’t know anyone who could help us with that and I also contacted amp.dev support, but they didn’t get back to us so we stuck with it. I hoped that, although you are busy with other stuff going on, you may know someone who we could contact and ask for support.

Alex 20 Sep 2019, 11:38

Hi. I will check, if it’s not very complicated issue I will help you.
It may be cost from 40 to 120 euro. It’s just my thoughts. I need to check at first and I will tell you the price ;)

Lisa Keeling 20 Sep 2019, 14:32

Hi Marek, thank you! Of course, we are interested. Please let us know as soon as possible how does it look and if you can help us with setting those codes up. I don’t mean to rush you or anything it’s just super important for us.

Marek 20 Sep 2019, 14:35

That was Alex, not Marek :)

Lisa Keeling 20 Sep 2019, 14:56

Hi Alex, sorry! :)

Lisa Keeling 22 Sep 2019, 19:21

Thanks Alex! (Nice to meet you)

Lisa Keeling 24 Sep 2019, 10:06

Hi Alex, can you let us know on this? Is it something you can help with?

Alex 24 Sep 2019, 10:43

Hi. Lisa sorry for waiting. I will check your issue within a few days and write you back.

Lisa Keeling 01 Oct 2019, 08:24

Hi Alex/Marek, Can you let me know if this is something you can help with? Thank you

Alex 01 Oct 2019, 23:55

Hi. For now I don’t have a time for modifications. Sorry.
I will have a time only after a few weeks

Lisa Keeling 04 Oct 2019, 13:28

Hi Alex - sorry I am confused are you answering the AMP Snap Chat help ticket or the ticket where I have asked Marke does he know a website developer that would work with us on a separate basis to replace our current developer (away from Alysum / promokit and separate paid for contract)?
I am looking for any recommendations for an eccommerce developer than is interested in something like this if you can help or advise? Thanks, Lisa

Marek 04 Oct 2019, 13:46

I don’t know another developer who could help you with that

Lisa Keeling 04 Oct 2019, 13:47

No worries - I thought it was worth asking.

Lisa Keeling 23 Oct 2019, 09:05

Hi Marek, I am checking when you can update options for adding pixel codes for snapchat and pinterest (the same as Facebook) as we are still not able to pick up mobile traffic on other social profiles for mobiles.

I also added a ticket on Monday and it has disappeared??

Marek 23 Oct 2019, 10:26

Maybe will be better to disable AMP for a while. We still don’t have time for that.
As for the ticket, I don’t see any new ticket from you even in my emails

Lisa Keeling 23 Oct 2019, 10:59

Thank youve said that before. Disabling AMP with un do months of work. yes i explained there is an issue setting up a new ticket.

Marek 23 Oct 2019, 12:18

We also spent a lot of time to support and we would like you have it working
As for new ticket, I have test it out and successfully create a new ticket under a customer account
