Ticket #21878 - Update process with Creative Elements
Hi Fred,
We want to upgrade to the latest version of Alysum, but we are concerned about how to manage the change of the visual builder.
At the start of our project, a few months ago, we had already installed Creative Elements to customize the product pages and other pages of the website.
As you have now integrated this same module as part of the template functionality I don’t know how we can update without losing the templates or pages we had previously used.
On the other hand, I would like to know how to migrate the content from the old Layout Builder to Creative Elements.
Kind regards,
Comments
Hi, Antonio.
You can make an update and keep using Page Builder. But, the main feature of this update is Creative Elements module, so if you are not going to use it there is no sense to update.
As for the migration, unfortunately, there is no way to convert Page builder layout into Creative Element layout.
Hi Fred. I think I didn’t explain myself correctly. I am sorry if I have misled you.
Right now I am already using Creative Element, because I bought it and installed it on my own a few months ago.
My concern is that if I update I might lose the templates and pages I already have created in Creative Elements. For example a template that I use in the “DisplayFooterProduct” area.
No, you will not lose your templates. But there could be a problem. If you will apply the update creative elements module will be copied from update into your prestashop what brake down your current module.
The solution is the following: copy your current “creativeelements” folder into your computer. After theme update, upload copied folder back to your server
Ok, in that case should I deactivate the current module before updating?
Another question related to theme update: Should I update to the latest version of Prestashop before updating the theme?
1. no you don’t need to deactivate the module
2. No, it’s not necessary to update prestashop platform
