Ticket #22061 - Blank Homepage and website after updating from 5.5.0 to 7.0.1

We experienced blank pages on our staging websites https://staging.sebastienleguillou.com/fr/ when we updated from 5.5.1 to 7.0.1 and tried installing creative elements we had to run backups and try again with manual updates but the same happened.

Will passing from 5.5.1 to 7.0.1 affect our page layout that we built with the old page builder?

thanks you guys for the help

Hi, THEO daublain.
But as I can see you have 5.5.1 version here https://staging.sebastienleguillou.com

Yes, it’s possible to keep using Page builder, but we recommend to use Creative Elements module, it has better performance

Hi thanks for your reply we did a backup of the website files yesterday after the blank page happened, do you want us to do the update again and show you the issue ?
ok great but will the old pages that we build using the old pagebuilder will be lost once we do this ?
once the update is done we need to deactivate the old pagebuilder module ?

I can try to update your theme. But you have too outdated theme and almost every module was rewritten from scratch. So after the update you will need to reconfigure the store once more

THEO daublain 04 Aug 2021, 13:48

Ok, by reconfiguring you mean we will have to redo most of the pages from scratch or just some setting up to do and some tweaks?
if it’s mostly reconfiguring the pk modules I think it can be done what do you think ?

regards

I can’t say for sure because I don’t know what configuration you have.
We can try and in case some issues you just restore a backup

sure we can try tomorrow on our staging website it’s in our main website ftp folder under staging if you want to try and update it to see what the issues are and then we can move forward !

thanks for the help so far fred

I just updated the theme, please check it out

THEO daublain 06 Aug 2021, 18:50

thank you the update seemed to have worked but most of the product page catégories pages have disappeared and we can’t use elementor on most of the pages is there a conflict between the page we build with the old page builder and the new one?
in theme settings, it seems some parts of modules have not been hooked ?
do we have to make some changes in the theme settings to make everything work ?
do we have to redo the page product and the category product with elementor to make it work as well ?

Fred 07 Aug 2021, 12:30

we recommend to move to Elementor and disable/uninstall old Page builder.
- in theme settings, it seems some parts of modules have not been hooked? - there is a button to fix hook under every module
- do we have to make some changes in the theme settings to make everything work? – I can’t reply, because I have no idea what do you need
- do we have to redo the page product…? - Yes, that’s most right way

THEO daublain 07 Aug 2021, 13:16

thhanks for your reply Fred , ok so if I understand correctly we disable the old page builder and we redo all the pages header and footer etc with elementor right ? or is there an easy way to switch from one to the other without redoing all of it because after trying it on our staging webstite we want to do it on our live website and not loose a lot of time redoing most of it.

ps when i click fix hook buttons it says it has worked but then it goes red again after saving

there is no way to import old layouts.
If you really need I can make work page builder layout. But the main sense of the update was to move to Elementor. If you don’t need it maybe would be easier to keep using previous theme version?

THEO daublain 09 Aug 2021, 10:03

ok it was mainly for us a way to update our homepage and include new designs easily but if it means that we have to redo most of the pages it will be a bigger update than expected and we might be able to just use the previous version and just update the hompeage design.

ok, I see
