Ticket #25782 - Taxes are not showing during checkout

Hello, I configured the taxes for Illinois; however, when a client from Illinois checks out, they are not being charged taxes.

I followed the instructions below

Access the Tax Settings:

Log in to your PrestaShop back office.
Navigate to International > Taxes.
Add or Edit Tax Rules:

Add a new tax:
Click the “Add new tax” button.
Fill out the required fields:
Name (e.g., “US Sales Tax - 6%”)
Rate (e.g., “6.00”)
Enable the tax rule by toggling the switch.
Edit an existing tax:
Click on the tax rule you want to modify.
Update the necessary details.
Assign Tax Rules to Zones:

Go to International > Locations > Zones.
Select the zone you want to associate with a tax rule.
In the “Taxes” tab, choose the applicable tax rule(s) from the dropdown list.
Configure Tax Options:

At the bottom of the International > Taxes page, you’ll find “Tax options.”
Key settings:
Enable tax: Turn taxes on or off for your entire shop.
Display tax in the shopping cart: Show or hide tax details during checkout.
Include tax in prices: Determine whether product prices include tax or not.

Hi, Catina.
Are you able to check that with the Classic module. We need to be sure the issue is only coming from our theme to make a fix.

Catina Charter 27 Sep 2024, 15:58

What is the classic module?

Catina Charter 27 Sep 2024, 16:01

I followed the instructions provided by Prestashop. Are there two tax modules? Please clarify.

Thank you

I'm sorry for that typo. I meant Classic theme.

Catina Charter 27 Sep 2024, 22:57

I am using the classic theme. I don't understand the question, but it is supposed to work no matter what setting we use. It is all Alysum theme.

Fred 27 Sep 2024, 23:03

You are using Alysum theme → https://mega.nz/file/VEglVKyS#mmxKPzgGDw-weyc5brmQzyv0i0c9FRWJhkKmrYKYCzI
To be sure the issue is coming from Alysum theme need to check how Classic theme works. If there is everything ok then we can start fixing the issue in our theme

Catina Charter 27 Sep 2024, 23:29

Yes we are using this theme

Fred 27 Sep 2024, 23:43

I just need to be sure the Classic theme has the same issue.

Catina Charter 27 Sep 2024, 23:45

Okay, you have the information. Have you checked it? We used the classic theme and just changed the settings

Catina Charter 27 Sep 2024, 23:46

A part of support is making sure the theme is working there. is nothing we could have done to cause the taxes not to work

Catina Charter 28 Sep 2024, 18:24

Good morning. Have you checked on this issue? We have lost a few hundred dollars because an Illinois resident did not pay taxes on a 1,800 order. In our state, the tax is close to 10 percent, which we are responsible for paying; if there is something we need to do on our end that has been overlooked, please let us know.
Thank you

I have tried to reproduce the issue creating a tax for Poland but with no success. I assume something is not configured properly in the back office. But I want to notice that the theme doesn't manage taxes, it just display information received from Prestashop platform.

Catina Charter 30 Sep 2024, 02:40

Hello, Are you unable to help us resolve the issue? It has been three days. If the issue was not theme-supported or related, it would have been helpful to advise us of this when the ticket was submitted; thank you

Fred 30 Sep 2024, 23:01

I have printed out all the cart data received from prestashop core https://mega.nz/file/4MxkwY5Z#SR-WdrNM_qU41VRX9rBtTpga6ZGqZGfWErnLYA9Xod4 as you can see there is no applied taxes at all. So as I wrote you above it seems taxes are not configured properly

Catina Charter 01 Oct 2024, 22:29

We can close the ticket. Thank you

Fred 09 Oct 2024, 20:46

We can try sorry for the late reply.
We can try to check what's changed in the pro version and try to implement that in the "in-stock" one. But I can't give you estimates on that
